Why choose Vilo SPC Flooring for your space?
If you're looking for a flooring choice that has exceptional durability, highly scratch resistant and water repellent, Vilo SPC Flooring is the perfect solution.
Thanks to the use of polymer technology, SPC floors are characterised by high rigidity and strength.
The flooring itself is easy to install and will instantly transform any room it is fitted into.
Below, we have written an easy how to guide of how to install the panels, meaning those starting their first DIY project should have no problems.
Before you begin your project.
Check all of the floor tiles for imperfections, damage and alterations. Do not install tiles that show imperfections. Along with this, check that colours match those that you have chosen.
Make sure the surface that the tiles are installed is relatively flat and smooth. Minor imperfections are no issue, but for large holes, cracks and bumps. smooth the surface first before beginning. The unevenness of the surface must not exceed 2mm over a length of 1m and must be measured using a ruler or spirit level. Vilo floor tiles are able to cover joints, seams and cracks of up to 10mm in the base surface.
If you are installing the tiles directly on to concrete and stone surfaces, ensure the ground is fitted with an effective, moisture resistant membrane.
Acclimate the floor tiles in the room where they will be installed for 24-48 hours before you begin. The ideal installation temperature is 18-28°C.
Vilo floor tiles can be used on convection water-based underfloor heating but is not recommended for use with electrical based heating systems.
Starting the Installation
The tiles can be stuck to the surface with adhesive.
Make sure to leave an expansion cap 8mm in each direction and taken into account along the perimeter of the room. There is no need for threshold expansion joints for row lengths up to 15 length metres.
The only tools you'll need are a measuring tape, pencil, ruler, set square, tapping block, stanley knife, spacers, rubber hammer and shims if setting against an uneven wall.
Installation
- Establish Stagger and Align - Stagger the floor in a brick bond pattern and stagger the floor equal to half a tile. (Tools needed planks, underlay, spacers and rubber hammer).
- Prepare the Floor - If the floor is uneven, place an underlay. Set spacers of equal thickness, distanced, for the required expansion gap of 8mm.
- Install the 1st Tile - It is important that the first row is installed straight. Make sure to alternate the installation back and forth between rows one and two, for the first two rows only. Start with a half tile and position this tile close to the wall.
- Install the 2nd Tile - Using the Click4U angle system, angle the side of tile 2 onto the side of tile 1. Drop tile 2 to lock. Make sure there are no gaps.
- Take another tile (3). Repeating the previous step, insert the side of tile 3 into the side of tile 2. Them slide tile 3 to your left until the side is in contact with the side of tile 1.
- Using the 3L TripleLock one piece drop-lock system, drop the side of plank 3 onto the side of plank 1.
- Using a soft rubber mallet slightly tap the joints on the side to secure. This ensure 3x locking.
- To secure the planks, as you go, don't forget to use a soft rubber mallet on the sides to secure the locking.
- Once completed, remove the spacers and cover caps with skirting boards.
